- Texture: Strawberry tree honey varies in texture depending on the harvest and the season: liquid, solid and even creamy. It has a very fine consistency.
Serving Suggestions: It is perfect for sweetening your coffee; its bitter taste does not alter flavours and it is frequently used in patisserie.
100% raw honey : all our honeys are analyzed to guarantee you the highest quality and purity. We use cold extraction in the most beekeeping tradition.
- ARBUTUS TREE
Miel Factory invites you to savor French arbutus honey. Collected in the Landes, in France, this honey is paradoxically bitter and elegant, intriguing yet sharp. It’s unique blend of flavors will embark you upon a complex savory journeywhich is truly representative of honeys from the south ouest of France.
The arbutus tree is a shrub that blooms from mid-October to mid-December. Thus, for a long time, due to its late harvest, this honey was intended to be the winter reserve of the hive. Today though, it is a product greatly appreciated by honey purists and chefs who use it to give a unique flavor to their creations. Arbutus shrubs are predominantly found in the south of France, in Corsica and in the Landes. The arbutus is known for its various health properties as it has all at once anti-anemic, digestive, diuretic, laxative, calming and sedative properties.
While the shrub’s fruit is bright red, its small bell shaped flowers are delicate and cream colored. In terms of flavor, the arbutus honey is often qualified as being bitter as it conveys a sharp taste that somewhat recalls that of the biter almond. While the arbutus honey, stemming from the Mediterranean, has a strong flavor and a more acquired bitterness, the landes arbutus honey has a subtler flavor. In terms of texture, this honey has a quick crystallization time which makes for a granular feel.
