Madagascar's biodiversity is truly unique. It is one of the countries in the world where the least amount of pesticides is being used. The latest international studies on neonicotinoids for example place Madagascar at the top of the list of countries least affected by pesticides.
Farmers do not use phytosanitary products and, as such, Madagascar honeys have strong and powerful floral notes. Malagasy beekeepers are gathered in extremely elaborate apicultural villages. A part of their harvest receipts is donated for the creation of roads as well as educational and medical infrastructures. Moreover, the local population is taught about the ecology and the importance of protecting and caring for their local biodiversity. Thus, an entire ecosystem built around the knowledge of apiculture, the power of bees and the richness of their ecosystem has emerged. This honey has been analyzed by a French laboratory certifying both its high quality and its compositional bouquet relying on more than 90% eucalyptus nectar.
